About the Firm

Founded in 1979, Volumetric Advisers began as the investment adviser to Volumetric Fund, with the goal of providing trusted investment opportunities to friends and family. Over the years, the firm has grown, but its foundational principles remain unchanged: delivering personalized service, fostering long-term relationships, and acting with integrity in all aspects of investment management. At Volumetric, every client is treated with the same care and consideration that have guided the firm since its inception.

Gabriel Gibs was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1936. He came to the United States in 1957 as a college student. Initially, he attended the University of California at Berkeley as a chemical engineering major, before he moved to New York. He received a B.S. degree in Chemistry in 1963, at what is now the City University of New York (CUNY). He has also received a M.B.A. degree in Finance from Pace University in 1974. The principles of his MBA thesis, titled "Forecasting Stock Trends By Volume Analysis", has been the foundation of  the Volumetric Fund's ("Fund") trading system.

After graduation Mr. Gibs' first job was a chemist in the Lederle Division of American Cyanamid Co., since acquired by Pfizer, in Pearl River, New York. Then, from 1968 to 1975, he worked for St Regis Paper Company, now part of International Paper, as a chemist. During these years he became very interested in the stock market as a hobby.

Between 1975 and 1986 he was employed in various capacities by Lonza, Inc., a chemical company in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. He started Volumetric Fund in 1978, as 17 co-workers, friends, and relatives invested their money in the new investment club and in 1983 Volumetric Advisers was incorporated. Then in 1986, as Volumetric kept growing, Mr. Gibs left Lonza to manage the Volumetric full time. In September of 1987, Volumetric Fund went public.

Mr. Gibs was the former President of Volumetric Advisers, Inc, the Fund's investment adviser. He had served as a Portfolio Manager since inception to April 2021. He served as the Fund's CEO from 1978 to April 2016, and Chair from 1978 to June 2018. He was appointed Chairman Emeritus in June 2018.

Mr. Gibs had been a guest on various television and radio shows and was interviewed numerous times for newspaper articles.
